Mary Rae Bragg

Mary Rae Bragg DBQ TH2


Mary Rae Bragg was elected President of the League of Women Voters of Iowa (LWVIA) in 2016, and is currently serving the second year of her term. She previously served as Treasurer of the LWVIA from 2013-16. Mary Rae grew up Jefferson, Iowa, and earned her degree in Journalism from Drake University. She spent 20 years working in the Detroit area and then returned to Iowa in 1991 to join the Iowa Newspaper Association. Mary Rae retired in June 2009 after 13 years as chief political reporter for the Telegraph-Herald in Dubuque. Mary Rae continues to live in Dubuque, and is currently serving as a board member for “50-50 in 2020,” a state-wide non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to achieving political equity for women in Iowa.
