Jade Silva-Tovar

Jade Silva Tovar is a higher education administrator committed to a student centered and assets-based approach to creating inclusive, just, and equitable campus environments. As the Senior Director of the Division of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Texas Tech University, Jade leads eleven student success and retention areas in serving diverse students with a focus on transformative practices towards justice and equity. She has oversaw the creation of two new units within the Division focusing on intersectional identity leadership, intercultural development, and social justice education and will be leading the establishment of various cultural centers. Jade is in the process of earning her Doctor of Philosophy from Colorado State University’s Higher Education Leadership program. Her areas of expertise and experience include: organizational development and service implementation, strategic planning, intersectional identity development, student development, diversity education, inclusive practices and strategies towards equity, student engagement, leadership development, entrepreneurial mindset, and federal, state and corporate grant writing and management. Prior to joining Texas Tech University, Jade worked at Arizona State University where she also earned a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration with a research focus on the Academic Success of African American Engineering Students at ASU. Jade worked across four campus locations in Student and Cultural Engagement/International Student Engagement at Arizona State University and in the Fulton Schools of Engineering in Student Engagement where she oversaw the National Academy of Engineering’s Grand Challenge Scholars Program, managed three engineering centers including an innovation hub, Engineering Projects in Community Service, taught introduction to leadership course, leadership development of engineering students and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Jade earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa, having studied abroad at the Universidad Nacional in Heredia, Costa Rica. She has served on various state and national committees and boards to include: NASPA 2020 Annual Conference Innovation sub-committee, Arizona NASPA, Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. Board of Directors, and the Iowa Latino/a/x Summit.

Logina (Gina) Mostafa

Gina was born in Egypt, raised in NYC, and spent the majority of her adolescence in Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa, where she was highly active as a political organizer while double majoring in Gender, Women's and Sexuality Studies, as well as Global Health Studies. She co-founded the school’s first Planned Parenthood student organization, co-facilitated workshops as a violence prevention peer educator, volunteered as an abortion doula, and worked as a student public health researcher for a project focused on the eugenic legacies of state-sponsored sterilization. After finishing her Applied Practice Experience as an intern for the NYC DOHMH's Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit, she went on to work as a Clinic Engagement Associate for New York City Teen's Connection (NYCTC), a project of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Her current work focuses on expanding adolescent access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services. She has also begun volunteering for the New York Abortion Access Fund as a Case Manager and Advocacy and Organizing Committee member.

 

Morgan Murray

 Morgan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Language from the University of Iowa. During her college years and beyond, Morgan volunteered with various community organizations and co-founded a support organization for Black women on campus. This spearheaded her interest in work providing equal access and opportunities for all. After graduating, Morgan served as an AmeriCorps volunteer, providing support to underserved residents and citizens re-entering society to address barriers to employment. Morgan later served in Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic, collaborating with rural communities to advance youth and community development initiatives. Passionate about service and engagement, partnerships, and creating more inclusive and equitable spaces, Morgan uses that to fuel her current work administering pass-through grants for voter registration and engagement and democracy initiatives. Morgan is originally from Des Moines, Iowa. In her free time, Morgan can be found spending time with friends and family, planning her next travel adventure, or singing (badly) and dancing to music at home.
