Bystander Intervention Training
WRAC provides workshops to train participants in safe and effective ways to address inappropriate, offensive, harassing, and dangerous conduct to create a safe and welcoming community for us all. This interactive training introduces the principles of bystander intervention, teaching 12 specific skills to provide options for a wide variety of situations, and includes opportunities to practice them.
Sexual Consent
The University of Iowa upholds an Affirmative Consent standard for sexual consent. This training, which uses video and interactive discussion, explores what this means, how it works, and ways to communicate effectively and without awkwardness. Contact us to request a training or get more information by clicking here.
Raise the Bar
Raise the Bar (RTB) is a training opportunity for local bar staff to gain knowledge on sexual assault dynamics, red flags, and how alcohol is used to facilitate sexual violence. This training teaches bystander intervention skills with the goal of developing a coordinated response to prevent sexual violence. Participants will learn to recognize their own barriers to interrupting harm and build stamina in sitting with discomfort. Raise the Bar discusses safety/support messages and changes in policy that promote cultural shift in settings that serve alcohol. This program is led by the Violence Prevention Educators through the Women's Resource of Action Center. For more information, contact this office at ui-violence-prevention@uiowa.edu
